Viribus Breeze Step-Thru Electric Bike Troubleshooting

Q1 Unable to power on / display screen is not lighting up.

To turn on the screen, you need to long press the power button on the instrument panel for 3-5 seconds, as shown in the figure.

If the display still does not light up after long pressing the power button on the instrument panel, you need to check if the battery has power. Insert the key into the lock and turn it to the ON position (as shown in the left figure below). Press the battery's power display button and observe the status of the power indicator light (as shown in the right figure below). If only one red light is on, the battery is dead and needs to be fully charged before use. If two lights are on, the battery is normal, and you need to check if there is any abnormality in the wiring between the controller and the instrument panel. If the wiring connection is normal, the instrument panel may need to be replaced.

Q2 Cannot switch to the minimum or maximum gear.

If you cannot switch to the maximum gear, use a crosshead screwdriver to rotate the screw on the right side of the derailleur ( H ) until the small cog on the derailleur aligns with the smallest sprocket on the flywheel. If you cannot switch to the smallest gear, use a crosshead screwdriver to rotate the screw on the left side of the derailleur ( L ) until the small gear on the derailleur aligns with the largest cog on the flywheel.

Q3 How to shift gears in manual pedaling mode?

While pedaling the bicycle, press the button pointed to by the red arrow on the right-hand shift lever. Each press will increase the gear by one level. To decrease the gear, push the lever indicated by the green arrow in the figure. Pushing it continuously will shift the gear down from the current position to the first.

Q4 The brake is too loose and not effective.

While squeezing the brake lever, observe whether the brake cable at the caliper contracts. If the brake cable does not contract, check if the brake lever clamp is properly installed and whether the brake cable is fully seated in the groove, as shown in the figure. If the brake cable contracts when you squeeze the brake lever, it may be that the brake is too loose, and you need to tighten the brake cable a bit. Q5 The handlebar is too low, how do I adjust the height?

To adjust the handlebar height, you need to first loosen the fixing screws that connect the stem and the fork (as shown in the left figure below), then loosen the screws that secure the stem and the handlebar (as shown in the right figure below). At this point, you can move the handlebar upwards or downwards.

Q6 The display screen shows an E8 error code, preventing the motor from starting.

The E8 error code indicates that the throttle mode is disabled. First, check if instrument parameter 10 is set to 000. If it is 000, set the instrument parameter to 002.

To view and set parameters: after turning on the device, long press the “+” and “-” keys on the instrument panel until the setting interface appears, then press the “M” key until it shows 10p. At this point, press the “+” or “-” key to adjust the parameter in the lower right corner of the display. After adjusting, press the ‘M’ key again to save the settings.

If parameter 10 is not 000, check whether the harness connector between the controller and the throttle handle is securely connected and if there are not any broken or bent pins. If all checks are normal, replace the throttle handle.

Q7 The instrument panel can be turned on, but the motor does not start when the throttle is twisted or the pedal is pressed.

This situation is generally due to a controller or motor malfunction.

  1. Check if the connector between the motor and the controller is securely connected and if the pins are not bent or broken.
  2. Disconnect the connector between the controller and the motor, lift the rear wheel, and rotate the wheel several times in both directions to feel if there is any resistance when the wheel turns. This can help preliminarily determine whether the motor is faulty. If the wheel can rotate smoothly, the motor may be normal, and the controller can be replaced.
