20km endurance experience with electric tricycle, unlimited mileage

As electric tricycles become more popular, many wonder just how far they can travel on a single charge. I tested out a Viribus Trio Plus model e-trike to see what kind of range it could achieve. The results after a 20 km (12 mile) endurance test were eye-opening.

Test Conditions

I conducted my test on a mix of flat city streets and some moderate hills. The total 20 km course had a decent amount of start-and-stop riding just like real urban conditions. I weighed 175 lbs and had 25 lbs of cargo in the rear basket. The weather was mild at 25°C.

The Trio Plus was equipped with a 350W motor and 360Wh lithium battery. I fully charged it before setting out on my urban adventure.

During the Ride

The trike handled the city streets and slopes without issue. Acceleration was smooth and quick at the crosswalks. I barely had to pedal on the flats as the electric assist did most of the work. Heading uphill, I pedaled harder and could feel the motor power kicking in to crest the inclines with ease.

The low center of gravity and three wheels kept the ride stable at all times. The adjustable handlebar and seat made getting a comfortable riding position easy. 20 km went by quickly and enjoyably on this nimble yet sturdy e-trike.

Battery & Range

Amazingly, after completing the 20 km course, the battery gauge still showed 35% charge remaining! Estimating linearly, the Trio Plus could likely achieve around 30 miles (50 km) on a single full charge. There was plenty of juice left for further urban exploring.



This test proves that with recent battery tech advancements, range anxiety should be a thing of the past for e-trike riders. This Viribus model demonstrated impressive endurance that would meet the needs of most city errand running. Go the distance in comfort and style aboard the Trio Plus!
